1. Leave me a comment saying "interview me" 2. I will ask you five questions of an intimate and creepily personal nature. Or not so creepy/personal. 3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions 4. You will include this explanation and offer to interview someone else in the post. 5. When others comment asking to be interviewed you will ask them 5 questions.
1. Do you think you would risk your life to save a stranger? one? probably not. several, yeah. like the people on 911 who crashed the plane in order to save others.
2. If you could do anything in the world, like instantly *boom* have genius talent in anything you want, what would it be? i have no clue, that'd take some thinking.
3. If you had to say one experience you've had this year you've learned the most from, what would you say it was? moving to nyc. it's so different here and i've had to learn how to do everything all over again.
4. If you could choose between a really good hook up with your (male) best friend who you could talk to about anything (not necessarily your current one, but just someone) or a relationship that you knew was not with "the one" but was comfortable, which would you choose? best male friend
5. Where would you rather live after school - NYC or Pitt? neither? but pitt over nyc |

We have bed bugs. Ewwy. So my bedroom is sealed for the next few days. In my zealousness i forgot a few things in my room that I will have to live without. Such as my checkbook. Which most days wouldn't matter, but rent's due on the 1st so I'll have to get a money order or a cachiers check. And lined paper. Once again, ordinarily this would not be needed, however my linguistics homework is due today. So I did the homework in a notebook and then cut the edges off the paper. That made me think of Ms. Cronin. "I like lace on my panties, not on your homework!" |

I haven't updated in awhile, so I just waned everyone to know I'm alive and well. Although barely hanging on to my sanity due to 3 crazy classes with professors who don't seem to know what "I have 2 other classes to read and study for" really means and therefor assign crazy amounts of reading and have homework, essays, or quizes every week.
So here's my average non-work day: Wake up and watch whatever morning tv show is on at that time while I eat. Stumble into the bathroom to brush my teeth, wash my face, and shower (if I'm really feeling modivated) Get dressed and decide which class will take top priority today, which will take second, and which comes in last. Gather up the books for my top priority class and a just for fun book (or newspaper). Call my mom on my walk to Joe Mama's (a coffee shop a few blocks away). Stop at the bodega for a small bottle of water and a bag of Skittles (or some other good treat). Buy a small coffee (she knows me, so no need to ask anymore, she just makes it when I walk in) and settle in my red velvety chair (or the couch if said chair is occupied, and then stare evily at the person sitting in my chair). Study as long asd possible. Read some of my "fun" book. Study more, rewarding myself with Skittles when I do good on my self quizzes or resist the urge to stop studying all together. Head home. Sit around being lazy for about 30 min (less if there's nothing good on TV or no one to talk to online). Read or whatever for my second most important class of the day. Resist the urge to give up on school all together. Go to class or work, or eat dinner if it's not a class/work day. Come home and watch massive amounts of TV while knitting and trying not to think of all the studying I'm missing. Or go out to binge drink with my fellow waiters and waitresses. Read for the class of least importance for the day (unless I'm too drunk to read without wanting to vomit, then I save the reading for the next morning instead of TV). Go to bed when I'm sick of it.
And if I work in the morning, it's the same stuff, just rearranged. |

I've decided that my new years resolution will be quitting smoking. As it turns out, "cigarette smoking may be hazardous to your health," just like the surgeon general warns. J has promised to mail me gum everyday. If you're in the mood to help me, feel free to send me gum too. Or whatever you think might be helpful to quitting/found helpful when you were quitting.
Also in the news, I'll be home the night of the 24t til the night of the 28th. I'm not getting any of my friends gifts. Sorry. I still like you all very much. And I'll probably see you about once on my visit home. Sorry for that too. |

I lost some weight. Which, at most times, would be quite exciting. "Most times" being when I have the permission to use my parents credit card. This is not "most times" however, so I'm a bit upset by this. My pants are all too huge on me. And I'm 100% not in the mood to go out and spend $150 on 2 new pairs of jeans (my closet staple). So here I am, wandering around NYC with pants that may fall off at any moment. Belts do help, but they look a bit silly because they just bunch up the waistline. I did find one pair of jeans in the back of my closet that fits, so it seems that I'll be wearing these until they're too big or I regain weight and fit my other jeans again.
Also, my trip home was quite fun. And I saw Nancy this time (although I gave her like 0 warning). I only saw Ann for like 20 min. But I saw heather both nights! No Gabe though. |

we seem to have a sex problem in this apartment. not the no one's getting any (i seem to be the only one with that problem). but that one roommate doesn't seem to care that we can all hear him having sex. the other day i took a break from reading and headed out to the kitchen for a snack. ass soon as i took my earplugs out i heard moaning. i considered just putting my earplugs back in and getting back to reading, but i couldn't stop thinking about the sex going on a few feet away. so i quietly snuck out of the apartment with my cell phone and talked to my sister while sitting outside. i assumed they just didn't know i was home, but then thinking about it i realized my light was on so i was obviously here. so i told lisa (the other roomie) about it today when we were complaining about leo and she said it happens alot. she'll be watching tv and they'll go into his room and start sexing. now this is an apartment where we all hear everything that goes on. but we all have different scheduals, so it wouldn't be hard to only have sex when no one else is home, so why do they do it when we're right here? and he doesn't close his windows either. he has 2 windows in his room, 1 into the livingroom and 1 into the hall. it seems to me that he should either close the windows and have quiet sex or wait until no one's home to have sex. |

I've been so bored latey. I sleep alot and read for class and watch tv (we only get a few networks) and go online. That's about it. There's so much I want to do, but I don't want to go alone. I'm petrified of doing things alone. Plus, it kinda scares me. It doesn't help that I have a mom who tells horror stories about girls going out running alone and never coming back. Maybe I'll hit up the new Gugenheim (?!) exhibit this weekend or something, that sounds quite safe.
Also, my mom broke both feet. Well, her metatarsals on one foot and phalanges on the other (atleast that's what I'm guessing from her saying it sounds like metamucil and phila-somethings). So she sits around and does nothing now. If my dad has to come appear at trial here next week or so, she's gonna come with him since she has nothing better to do. But we won't be able to go do anything (esp. the hiking trail I wanna check out) cause she has to sit all day.
Last night I led discussion in my anthropology of race class. The one where I'm one of the 4 white people so the class is kinda based on the idea that white people suck and I can't get a word in edgwise. So far they've been pretty good at proving my race is quite sucky, so I couldn't respond much anyways. Anyways, part of our grade is based on discussion, so this finally let me talk without interuptions, which was nice. When she said I was doing the discussion she looked around and had no idea who I was. Kinda awkward since she knows like everyone in class, esp. the grad students. I brought up something from the chapter 7 notes and the prof was impressed that I read the notes, go me. And after when I was standing by the elevator she said good job, so that's good. Atleast she knows me now and knows I have valid things to say. |

i'm retarded and just lost $130 worth of books for school. i bought them before class so i could read the one tonight and tomorrow for my class on wed. and i know i had them in class tonight. and then i got home and realized i didn't have them. i was reading standing up on the l train, so i know i didn't have them then. so they could be still in the classroom (lets hope!!!) or outside the school since i stopped on the steps for a bit before taking the train, and the 68th and lex 6 station, on the 6 train, or at the union square station. i was reading at the 68th and lex station standing up, so i prob didn't have them there and just left them in class, but i'm not sure. i e-mailed my prof, and tomorrow i'll go into school and ask at the anthro desk. please, please, please let them be there! |

My dad's been subpoenaed (sp?!) in NYC for the end of the month so I get to see him! My dad's the quiet one who I rarely spend time with alone (unless you count watching golf on tv or playing golf with him at the club), especially now that I'm away from home alot. So it sucks that he has to appear in court since I know he hates doing that, but yay for him maybe visiting! |

You can tell alot about someone by how they act on the subway. There's the person who stops as soon as they enter the door so that everyone else has to push to get on. There's the mother who lets her kids sprawl out on the seats even when there's 15 people standing in the car. There's the fat person with shopping bags who sits with her bags next to her so she takes up tons of good seat space. There's the guy who stands up to let the pregnant woman sit down. There's the man who doesn't. There's the readers. The people who shout at their friends across the car. The guys with headphones on so loud that they might as well not even be using head phones. There's the sleepers who don't seem to mind that they'll tip over onto you. The sleepers who have perfected the subway sleep so that they don't even move with the train. The tourists who lean over you to look at the subway map. The people who do nothing. The knitters. The musicians.
The subway is one of the best people watching places ever. |
